Trump’s Inner Circle: It was one of the more striking predictions tucked inside the 2026 edition of Old Moore’s Almanac of Ireland: “Danger for president’s circle.” At the time of publication, it was easy to read as vague, perhaps metaphorical, the kind of broad forecast that almanacs have trafficked in for centuries. As of this weekend, it reads rather differently.
On the night of Saturday, 25th April 2026, President Donald Trump was swiftly escorted off stage by Secret Service when shots were fired during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, DC. The event, one of Washington’s most prominent annual gatherings, had drawn together some of the most powerful figures in the American administration under one roof.
Above is footage of the gunman running into the event, as shared by the Whitehouse’s PR dissemination page.
Numerous top Trump administration officials were present at the event, including Vice President JD Vance, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In other words, the very definition of a president’s circle, gathered, vulnerable, in a hotel ballroom.
Trump’s Inner Circle: What Happened
A man armed with multiple weapons charged a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner before being taken down by US Secret Service agents. One officer was shot, but was saved by his bulletproof vest.

The suspect was detained, according to Rapid Response 47, the Whitehouse PR dissemination service.
Trump later told reporters he “fought like hell” to remain at the dinner, but law enforcement insisted he and other senior officials leave the premises immediately.
The suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old from the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, California, is in custody and will face charges including using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer.
When asked directly by reporters whether he believed he was the intended target, Trump said simply: “I guess.”
It is worth noting that this is not the first time danger has brushed close to the 47th president. Trump survived an assassination attempt during a July 2024 campaign rally in Pennsylvania, and a few months later, a man tried to assassinate him while he was golfing at his West Palm Beach course.
Saturday’s incident marks a third occasion on which violence has erupted in proximity to the president, this time with his entire Cabinet in the room.
A prophecy tradition as old as Ireland itself
Old Moore’s Almanac has been publishing annual predictions since 1764, making it one of the oldest continuously published periodicals in the world. Its forecasts have long blended celestial observation with intuitive foresight, and its Irish readership has, over the centuries, learned to pay attention when its language turns ominous.
“Danger for president’s circle” is precisely the kind of compact, resonant phrase the almanac favours. The tradition of almanac forecasting has a long habit of appearing, in retrospect, to have known something.
This weekend, it appears to have known quite a lot.
Old Moore’s Almanac 2026 is available now. The almanac’s annual predictions cover world events, weather, and celestial phenomena for Irish and international readers.
