Irish garden glory: A recent study has unveiled the planet’s most vivid gardens, with an Irish garden earning a prestigious spot among the top ten. Known for its sweeping landscapes and intricate designs, this Irish gem captivates visitors with its vibrant allure.
A spokersperson from the study said, “Powerscourt Gardens in Ireland rank in sixth place, with the 47-acre gardens known for their Italian-style terraces and formal lakes. With the Wicklow Mountains providing a dramatic backdrop, it’s easy to forget that you’re 40 minutes from Dublin.”

As warmer seasons approach, Premier Inn’s research has spotlighted the world’s most colourful gardens. The study, detailed in their press release, analysed over 150 gardens worldwide using unedited Google Earth imagery. By evaluating Hue, Saturation, and Brightness (HSB) values, with a focus on saturation to gauge color intensity, the researchers crafted a vibrancy score blending saturation and brightness metrics.

The findings crowned Kensington Palace Garden in the UK as the most vibrant, boasting a vibrancy score of 254. The UK secured a strong presence, with Kew Gardens and Inveraray Castle and Gardens taking second and third places, scoring 250 and 248.4, respectively. Other UK entries, including Kyoto Garden in Holland Park and Oxford Botanic Garden, also shone in the top ten.
Beyond Europe, Argentina’s Rosedal de Palermo claimed fourth place with a score of 239.9, marking it as the highest-ranking non-European garden. Germany contributed Nymphenburg Palace Gardens (sixth, 231.3) and Herrenhausen Gardens (ninth, 225).
Powerscourt Gardens, with a score of 226, landed seventh, celebrated for its lush greenery and elegant terraces. The Dubai Miracle Garden, the sole Asian representative, rounded out the list in tenth.
Eight of the top ten gardens hail from Europe, showcasing the continent’s rich horticultural heritage. Oceania, while not in the top tier, made a strong showing with Auckland Botanic Gardens in New Zealand (11th, 220) and Australia’s Fitzroy Gardens (12th, 219), narrowly missing the elite list.
