Will Ireland Win the Eurovision Title in 2017?

Old Moore has predicted that Ireland might have some chance at the Eurovision this year. With just two weeks to go until the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, Italy are already the hot favourites, and Ireland is yet to qualify for the finals.

So how does Ireland compare to the rest of the contestants?

Italy, who will be represented by Francesco Gabbani and the track ‘Occidentali’s Karma’ are now the hot favourites.

Bulgaria are Italy’s nearest rivals, and are getting a lot of support across Europe.

Sweden is also a favourite, with Robin Bengtsson singing I Can’t Go On.

Portugal are also in with a chance, with the song Amar Pelos Dois by Salvador Sobral.

According to bookies BoyleSports, Ireland continue to see patriotic support by betters, but are currently 50/1 to win alongside Denmark and Macedonia. Ireland of course have to qualify for the grand final on the 13th of May.

Rookies Australia are once again competing with their track ‘Don’t Come Easy’.

A personal favourite of the Almanac staff is this offering by Belgium, called City Lights by Blanche.

Aoife Heffron, Spokeswoman for BoyleSports commented “Italy were priced at 4/1 just last month, but as the Eurovision Song Contest draws near, support has snowballed for Italy and they are now as short as 10/11 having been most recently cut in from Even money. The liability in the betting, however, lies with Ireland as punters snap up the 50/1 on offer for Brendan Murray to wow with Dying To Try.”

Fancy a flutter?
